My work explores several recurring themes including the fragility of the environment, my own vulnerability and the effects of time passing. Mathematical concepts and numerical sequences inspire me to depict them in an abstract and painterly manner.

I draw fine lines and shapes to create pattern and abstract forms. Obsessive, repetitive patterning is a frequent feature of my work. I use calculated, coded and symbolic marks, although my work has evolved to include marks which are spontaneous, instinctive and gestural.

Working with archival pigmented inks, watercolours and acrylic paints on paper, canvas or cradled boards is exciting. The tactile qualities of working with fabric and stitch are irresistible. Attention to detail and working small in a precise manner are inherent traits.
